College of Law Discusses the International Legal Regulation of Clean Energy Utilization

The College of Law at Al-Nahrain University discussed the master’s thesis entitled “The International Legal Regulation of Clean Energy Utilization”, submitted by Ghadeer Hashim Saeed, a postgraduate student in the Department of Public Law.

Significance of the Study

The significance of this study stems from the importance of clean energy itself, as it is closely linked to the future of humanity and sustainable development. It also represents one of the principal solutions to addressing environmental pollution, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources.

The significance of the study is further reflected in highlighting the role played by international efforts in regulating the utilization and investment of clean energy, as well as examining the extent to which national legislation keeps pace with these developments, particularly in Iraq, which possesses considerable potential that enables it to benefit from clean energy sources.

Objective of the Study

This study aims to clarify the international legal framework governing the utilization of clean energy and to examine the role of international agreements and organizations in promoting its use. It also seeks to assess the effectiveness of national legislation in keeping pace with international developments, with particular emphasis on the legal framework in Iraq.

Furthermore, the study seeks to identify the major challenges facing the utilization of clean energy and to present legal proposals that may contribute to developing this framework and encouraging investment in clean energy sources in a manner that achieves sustainable development and environmental protection.

Following the discussion and evaluation of the thesis, the committee decided to accept the thesis subject to the required amendments and recommended awarding the student the master’s degree.
